Care

Landhaus Nis Puk

Hybrid IP nurse call and anti-wandering

Our client chose the new nurse call system because of its future“ oriented technology and easy (wireless) programmation.

Landhaus Nis Puk is a residential care home with 39 beds consisting of 35 single and 2 partner rooms along with additional service rooms. All rooms are equipped with the new IP nurse call as a hybrid solution and an anti-wandering solution.

The room installation was carried out with a room signal lamp in the corridor of the care home. In the room a call/cancel and presence button was installed. In the bathroom, a nurse call/cancel pullcord and presence button was installed.

As for the service rooms, SIP touch-screen displays and small service room displays with call and presence buttons were installed. In addition, for the main  entrance a radio-based anti-wandering system was installed. This system recognises both the person and the location and transmits this information to the service room units and the DECT phones in clear text.

Challenge
  • Current nurse call system does
    not meet modern standards
  • Spare parts becoming increasingly
    rare
  • Cost-effective anti-wandering system

Solution
  • Hybrid

Challenge

A rather old nurse call system, the ConDigi CD2000 system, was being used in the care home. The system had already been discontinued by the manufacturer, with the result that spare parts were becoming increasingly rare and time-consuming to buy. In addition, the system did not comply with the DIN VDE 0834 standard currently in force, making a complete renovation necessary.

The care home was in need of an always-on concept solution for a DECT telephone system, an internet connection
for use by the residents and a nurse call system with integrated anti-wandering system from a single supplier. The new system also had to be flexible in the area of programming and comply with new future-oriented technology.

Furthermore, it had to be possible for the existing cable network to continue to be used flexibly. The existing cabling structure was not only set up in star formation but also included bus connections partially mixed with branch connections. In addition, for the new DECT telephone system and the nurse call system it had to be possible to dial in remotely to all installed modules. The use of the Netrix alarm server also had to allow for flexible alarm assignment to the DECT telephones.

Solution

The renovation took place as follows: firstly, the telephone system was converted to the new IP DECT system and an internet connection for use by the residents was integrated using the existing telephone cabling. This was followed by the integration of the functional central nurse call equipment and the integration of the anti-wandering system with its connection to the new DECT system.

In the building, the central system was equiped with IP-modules and the network connection was carried out via appropriate data switches, meaning that only one data connection to the telephone/DECT system was required. Thanks to this tested installation, it was possible to use the mobile radio solution on a station-by-station basis. This made a room renovation possible because the patient could always make an emergency call during the conversion, and the emergency call would be displayed on the appropriate DECT telephones in clear text.

Result

The decision for the new nurse call system of IndigoCare is based on ongoing customer trust obtained through project support, from concept planning to execution to system transfer, the quality of the system and the company and the cost-effectiveness of the system solution offered. There is also the fact that installation could be performed in daily operation by the mobile solution provided free of charge and that the ongoing free remote dial-in support was available during the programming. Prior to remote dial-in there was an initial chargeable local commissioning and the desired customer changes, such as conversion from a single-bed room to a double-bed room during the construction period, were solved and implemented very flexibly. It was very well accepted that in the patient bathrooms not only had a pull/pull-to-cancel and a presence button been constructed from the pull button, but also that the existing  cable network could be used for this.
