Parc de Salut Mar – Hospital del Mar
Complete retrofitting of the old building and installation of the new building, in one environment.
The Hospital del Mar in Barceloneta on Barcelona’s waterfront is a large health-park, comprised by over 10 different buildings with varying specialities and functions. They did a full renovation in order to modernize itself definitively.
The renovation work, which has nearly doubled the space available, will allow to concentrate services, increase out-patient areas (out-patient consultations and day hospital), reduce the number of trips that users have to make and improve the comfort of the rooms and waiting areas. It will also allow the professionals to work in new, more comfortable care areas, better suited to today’s hi-end healthcare standards.
Challenge
- Actually 2 projects in one. Complete renovation of the old building and the realisation of hi-end solutions in the new building, implemented as one environment.
Solution
- iCall VoIP units in 50% of the rooms with full integration of NEC-telephony and messaging for PCR, Ictus, etc. Reusing optimally the old cabling and program each unit individually for best patient service and staff support.
Result
- Because we were able to provide the right solution, matching the old and the new building into one hi-end care provider, this state-of-the-art hospital now is a new landmark facing a bright future.

Challenge
Different buildings, various cabling topologies. They needed a flexible system, working over IP network in the new buildings and on traditional cabling in old building. Integration with IP SIP telephony was a must, and it was an added value the integration with business processes (PCR, Ictus, etc). Integrated with NEC PBX and MobiCall. To better integrate and streamline the communications and processes across the different buildings and centers, improve medical and security procedures, optimize resources and maximize its use.
Solution
iCall SIP units in combination with NEC telephony, in the rooms for speech, service and monitoring of the individual residents. Deliver a tailored solution to the specific needs of the customer and its 2,000+ users. This included: IP DECT for mobility, external contact center, internal contact center (IT helpdesk), a solution for virtual meeting rooms, as well as CEBP (Communications Enabled Business Process) for automation of SOS processes, CRA (Cardiorespiratory arrest) and ICTUS, and of course a unique complete IP NurseCall system fully integrated within the UC platform.
Result
IndigoCare Spain ensured the digital transformation through the updating of the old communication infrastructure, turning all buildings and departments into a convergent solution, improving the general key processes and efficiency.
